Are files uploaded when using this converter?

No. Conversion runs entirely inside your browser using FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. Your file is read from disk into the browser tab, processed in memory and written back out. It never crosses the network, so there is no copy of it anywhere to retain or delete.

Your files

Files you convert are never uploaded. This is not a retention policy — it is an architectural fact. The conversion code runs in your browser, so there is no server-side copy to keep, leak or hand over. We could not tell you what you converted if we wanted to.

What the tools send

  • Converters (MP4, MP3, WAV, WEBM, GIF, compress, trim) send nothing at all.
  • Subtitle converter parses files in your browser and sends nothing.
  • Thumbnail downloader loads images directly from YouTube’s public image servers. Your browser contacts YouTube; we do not see the request.
  • Metadata inspector sends the video ID to our server, which queries the official YouTube Data API and returns the result. The video ID is not logged.
  • Embed builder generates code in your browser. Its preview loads a YouTube player from the privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com domain.

Analytics

We use privacy-respecting analytics to count page views and understand which tools people use. No cross-site tracking, no advertising profiles, and nothing that identifies you personally.

Cookies

The site sets no tracking cookies of its own. Embedded YouTube previews use the privacy-enhanced domain, which defers cookies until you actually press play.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have rights of access, rectification and erasure over personal data concerning you. In practice we hold almost nothing: converted files never reach us, and analytics data is aggregated rather than identifying. To ask about data we may hold, write to hello@youtubevideoconverter.com.
