Every other online converter uploads your file to their server, processes it there and asks you to trust what happens next. This one reads the file directly in the tab, so there is nothing to trust — and nothing to leak.
Server-based converters ration free conversions because each one costs them money. The processing here is your device’s, so there is no queue, no daily cap and no paid tier to upsell.

Common questions
Does this download videos from YouTube?
No. This converter works on files that are already on your device. It does not fetch anything from YouTube. If you want to convert one of your own YouTube videos, download the original from YouTube Studio first, then convert that file here.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Conversion runs entirely inside your browser using FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. Your file is read from disk into the tab, processed there, and written back out. It never reaches a server, ours or anyone else’s.
Is it free, and do I need an account?
It is free and there is no account, no sign-up and no email required. Because the processing happens on your device rather than our servers, there are no per-conversion costs to pass on.
What is the maximum file size?
Around 200MB on a desktop browser and roughly 40MB on mobile. Below 50MB it works reliably everywhere. The limit is how much memory your browser will give a single tab, not a policy we set.
Why is it slower than a desktop app?
FFmpeg runs as WebAssembly in your browser rather than as native code, which costs roughly 5–10× in speed. That is the trade for never uploading your file. For very large jobs, a desktop application will be faster.
Which formats are supported?
Output to MP4, MP3, WAV, WEBM and GIF, plus compression and lossless trimming. Input can be almost any common video or audio format, including MOV, MKV, AVI, WEBM, FLV, M4A and FLAC.
